"A high quality education in an uplifting and stimulating environment"

In the summer term, we were delighted to welcome Mr David Horton, a trainee science teacher, to Net School. Mr Horton is currently completing his PGCE with the University of Wales and joined us for his 'Enhancement Experience' placement. During his time with Net School, Mr Horton observed classes in our science department and ran a fun and engaging Science Project Club for our Key Stage 3 students. It was a pleasure to have him as part of the team - here are his thoughts...

'As a trainee Science teacher for secondary school my course tutors encouraged me to get experience in alternative educational establishments. My own boys received part of their education online so I was excited to be linked with Net School. It was obvious from the outset that the quality of education was very high. The standard of teaching in Science subjects was outstanding and the topics made interesting with plenty of interaction for those who wished it. Class sizes are small so it is easy for a teacher to spot if a student is struggling with a concept and assist. Even though there are no physical classrooms or laboratories, the wealth of online resources available and the personalised attention to each student more than made up for it. My own mentor, Dr. Ellie Nalson, knew each of her pupils well and helped them individually and very appropriately. There was no classroom disruption whatsoever - rather, students seemed very keen and motivated, as well as being both friendly and polite.

It has been a great pleasure to be associated with Net School for my placement. For those with the right circumstances to take advantage of what is on offer, Net School offers a high quality education in an uplifting and stimulating environment. I only wish I had discovered it when my boys were younger!'
