Bringing Yoga and Mindfulness to Teens

We are delighted to bring you this week’s blog by yoga instructor Caroline O’Driscoll, who will be bringing a yoga and mindfulness course for teens to Net School in February…
Bringing Yoga and Mindfulness to Teens: Supporting Stress Reduction and Emotional Wellbeing
As a qualified facilitator of Yoga Education in Schools, I’m passionate about helping teens navigate the challenges of today’s world through yoga and mindfulness. Over time, I’ve witnessed first-hand the transformative power of these practices in reducing stress, cultivating balance, and building resilience among young people.
When I was invited to bring my program to the online learning community at Net School, I saw it as a wonderful opportunity to introduce students to tools that promote emotional and mental wellbeing. The program I teach is specifically designed for teens and focuses on reducing stress and anxiety, encouraging mindfulness, and fostering self-awareness and joy.
Why Yoga for Teens?
Adolescence is a time of rapid growth and change, often accompanied by stress, uncertainty, and pressure. The Yoga Education in Schools program offers a practical, step-by-step approach to help teens manage these challenges. Over eight weeks, participants explore weekly themes related to stress management, practice breath-centred movements, and learn techniques they can integrate into their daily lives.
The ultimate goal? To equip students with healthy coping strategies they can carry with them throughout their lives. This isn’t just about yoga poses—it’s about empowering teens to find balance, build self-acceptance, and embrace a sense of joy in their day-to-day lives.
Making Yoga Accessible Online
Teaching yoga online has its unique challenges, but it also opens up incredible opportunities to reach teens wherever they are. Whether they’re studying from home, joining from a library, or logging in from another community space, this programme meets students where they are—both physically and emotionally.
In my next post, I’ll dive deeper into how the program is structured and share some of the feedback I’ve received from teens who’ve participated in these sessions.
I’m thrilled to bring this work to the Net School community and look forward to seeing how yoga and mindfulness can help teens thrive in this online learning environment.
